I've got questions, hypotheses...
...and I'm
curious about things. I write from inspiration at times
but largely from determination. Topics are born from
various sources; inspired by the news, a sudden
whimsical thought or from conversations. I'll borrow
other perceptions to build a character, world, a view
then see what happens next.
Some stories are silly and joyful. Others might start that way, but turn a corner and look around the story is in new territory, possibly chthonic. Shadowed lands and lost people. Dark alleys, bad weather, monsters lurking, bad choices to be made all potentially growing while fear escalates. At times, there is no escape. In other cases persistence leads to higher ground, truths and epiphanies. Shining bastions of light, discovery and joy exist too.
Some are not "true" stories with plots or motive at all. They are just little pinpoints in time or descriptions that are captured in my mind. Like, an overheard conversation between two aliens on a galactic subway ride, between galaxies. Or a description of how a man retrieved a fallen rose. Moments.
All of these can be found here. I really like or love some of them. Others make me cringe and think "I can do so much better." At my best, my writing confirms I'm on the the right track and evokes emotions, discussion. At my worst, well, I know I can only continue to improve.
Beautiful or ugly, praise or cringe-worthy, I wrote all of these. It's what I love to do.

- Flashes - Flash Fics. Short stories with brief word counts. Generally between 300 - 2000 words, though I've seen micro fictions under 300 too.
- Chapters - Short stories or featured chapters from longer works.
- Observations - Descriptive pieces with absolutely no guarantee of a plot in them. Neither fish nor fowl, these are just observed moments in time. They can be fictional or occasionally non fictional.
- Friday Snippets - Friday peeks at WIP as per Holly Lisle's Pocket Full of Words Friday Snippet guidelines. Come on participate...you know you want to!
